Boats from around the state had the challenging task of navigating Pittwater in a westerly, then the next day, a cold windy southerly. After 2 days of racing the best placed Club boat in the PHS was Venue, sailed by Bruce Staples and Bryan Ellis who finished 5th. For the Elapsed Time category, Stephen Ellis’ Agent 88 finished 4th. The winner of the PHS division was Rigel Hammond in Pelangi from Middle Harbour and the winner of the ET division was Malcolm Thompson from Balmain in Pistol Dawn. Old Timers Regatta By Stephen Collopy The Annual Old Timer’s Regatta and Luncheon was held on the same day as the Young 88 NSW Championships (April 18). Again, they also had to face the shifting westerly but fortunately many of these sailors know Pittwater very well. The rules are simple, the sailors have to be over 65 and have been a member for 10 years+. This year, Don Browning won the regatta sailing in Roxanne. 2nd was Mike Robertson in Starlight and 3rd was Rob Cole in Pretty Woman.
