Crosthwait tick. His artistic
creations he calls Zen Chimes
and his metal and ceramic floral wall
pieces are among the recent works
that he creates in his home studio.
His Zen Chimes make no noise and
are constructed from found objects
and pieces he creates himself.
Crosthwait’s studio is like a candy
store for an artist with a smorgasbord
of whimsical, repurposed objects and
baubles. Crosthwait creates ceramic
parts as well as fabricated metal in
organic shapes that he combines with
found objects for his assemblages.

Artist Spotlight: Jimmy Crosthwait
Arlington is home to a
modern day renaissance
man. Artist Jimmy
Crosthwait has been
entertaining people in
the Memphis area with
his music, puppets, and
artistic assemblages for many
decades. As a fixture in the Memphis
music scene and well known to the
local art community, Crosthwait
shows no signs of slowing down.
Crosthwait spent many years as
puppet creator and puppeteer for the
Pink Palace Museum. He doesn’t do
puppet shows anymore but he
continues to perform as a musician
using an array of unconventional
instruments. As the only remaining
member of local band Mud Boy and
The Neutrons where he played the
