Nominations Being Accepted for Prestigious 2017 Saint Thomas More Award
The Saint Thomas More Society of Santa Clara County , an organization of Catholic lawyers , judges , law professors , and law students , seeks nominations for this year ’ s recipient of its annual Saint Thomas More Award .
Nominees should be members of the legal profession who have demonstrated a commitment to Catholic ideals and service to the community , parish , or profession . The Saint Thomas More Award will be presented at the annual Red Mass , to be celebrated Thursday , October 19 at the Santa Clara University Mission Church . Dinner will immediately follow . San Jose Symphonic Choir Sings “ BON VOYAGE ” – A Free Community Concert

San Jose Symphonic Choir will perform at the Cathedral Basilica of St . Joseph on Saturday , June 10 , at 7:30 p . m . The concert is free to the community ; donations will benefit the St . Joseph Office of Social Ministry .
The concert precedes the Choir ’ s July tour to England and Wales , where they will perform in the Harrogate International Music Festival and other venues . The program features a range of musical songs and styles that cross time and space : from music written hundreds of years ago by Giovanni Palestrina , to Mendelssohn ’ s setting of Psalm 43 and Rachmaninoff ’ s All Night Vigil , to the rhythmic joy of gospel songs and music of contemporary American composers .
The choir , led by Artistic Director Leroy Kromm , performs classical choral music in several languages from all eras , and is dedicated to bringing to life large choral works with orchestral accompaniment . This appearance wraps up its 92nd season of performing in San Jose . The next concert season will begin in the fall with a performance of Vaughan Williams ’ Hodie . SJSC enjoys the opportunity to share this diverse program of music - the universal language that expresses the human experience .
