According to a saying of Prophet Mohammad , the world will not come to an end before the advent of Imam Mehdi and Imam Mehdi will not appear before a sign regarding him appears on the Sun . Many people are able to see a facial image on the Sun , which they believe to be that of Imam Mehdi . The Koran supports this understanding .
I will show them my signs , in the horizons and within themselves until they exclaim that this is the truth . [ Koran 41:53 ]
According to this , the truth shall manifest in the horizons ( which includes the Moon , the Sun and all other celestial spheres ) and within the hearts of believers . When people obtain spiritual benevolence from the Divine Signs and the divine light of the name of God enters their hearts , they will come to know that the one whose images have been manifested in the horizons is the God-sent truth .
The Hour will not be established until the Sun rises from the West . [ Maktubat-e-Imam Rabbani ]
The Muslims interpret ‘ the Sun rising from the West ’ to mean the Sun will literally rise from where it sets ; this is a grave misconception . It is the physical Sun that rises in the East and sets in the West , but this prophecy does not refer to the physical Sun .
It is important to note the use of the Sun as a metaphor for the Awaited One in different religions . According to Hebrew Bible prophecy , which is heeded by both Christians and Jews , the Sun of Righteousness will rise to grant salvation to the faithful ones in the end times .
‘ For behold , the day is coming , burning like a furnace ; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff ; and the day that is coming will set them ablaze ,’ says the Lord of hosts . ‘ So that it will leave them neither root nor branch . But for you who fear my name , the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings . And you will go free , leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture .’ [ Malachi 4:1-2 ]
Hindu scripture also compares Kalki Avatar to the Sun . [ Kalki Purana , 33 . 13-28 ]
Similarly , the Sun is symbolic of Imam Mehdi . The rising of the Sun from the West is a reference to the emergence of Imam Mehdi , whose arrival shall mark the beginning of a new dawn , a new era and a brighter future for the world . The advent of Imam Mehdi shall take place from the Western World and his teachings shall be embraced by and gain popularity among people in the Western World . The propagation of the true Imam Mehdi and his teachings will commence from the West and spread throughout the globe ; all human beings on Earth will come to know who Imam Mehdi is and shall have faith in him .
The last day will not come until the Sun rises from where it sets . When people see it , people on Earth have faith . [ Sunan Ibn Majah , volume 9 , p . 4362 ]
Not only will the image of Imam Mehdi be visible on the physical Sun , but Imam Mehdi represents the era where peace , love and justice prevail . Before the ‘ Sun ’ of Imam Mehdi rises from the West , this world cannot come to an end .
