How / why did you get into the system ? I went to West Virginia University , and at the time , my parents had a seafood restaurant in Winchester , Virginia , that they had operated for about 25 years . My dad was looking to get into something else , and he would come visit me about every other week and I ’ d take him out to lunch . I said , “ Dad , there is this place I want you to check out . It ’ s called BW-3 .” We went to lunch there , and he liked the concept and got the number off the menu and called . It kind of took off from there .
What is your favorite thing about the brand ?
I like the dedication of all of the people that are part of the brand and the way they buy into the culture , as well as the way everybody really is there to support each other .

What do you look forward to accomplishing while serving on the board ?
I look forward to really making sure the franchisees are getting the services they need , especially in the area of educating their employees . Hopefully , we can come up with or make a digital learning management system that is available to franchisees similar to what corporate already has with the U . I would like to try to increase the communication and to foster the relationship that has been built between FBS and corporate .
In your opinion , what is the biggest challenge currently facing franchisees ?
I think the amount of government regulation and the amount of “ gotcha ” laws that franchisees can be caught with right now that we are not even aware of presents a challenge . I am hopeful that with this next administration that is going to change a little bit . I ’ m cautiously optimistic . Definitely , for us , that is the biggest challenge right now – the amount of government regulation and trying to comply with everything .
In your opinion , what is the most valuable benefit franchisees receive as members of FBS ?
The support of fellow franchisees and the relationship it builds in the franchisee community . The amount of work that the board puts in and does to provide these services for franchisees is amazing . We have the ability to make a phone call to anybody in the community because we all really have the same goal : to see Buffalo Wild Wings ® thrive .
What are two things people would be surprised to learn about you ? 1 . I BMX raced when I was little . 2 . I homeschool my children . S
