Meet Your Newest FBS Board of Directors Members
A
s a result of the staggered terms set forth in the association’s bylaws, there are three outgoing members of the
FBS board of directors this year. FBS greatly appreciates
the time and energy Dick Andrews, Jim Carmody and Doug Davis
have spent over the years developing and executing initiatives to
benefit the membership and thanks them for their service.
Three new board members were elected during the 2015
FBS Business Summit in Reno, Nevada, and we’d like to introduce them to you:
Name: Brian Carmody
Chief Operating Officer
Company: J.K. & T. Wings Inc.
No. of Units: 41
Year entered the system: 1994
Names of business partners: Jim Carmody,
Kent Ward, Tim Ward, Mona Ward, Mike Bailey,
Pat Lennox and Harry Kokkinakis
How/why did you get into the system? I graduated from Ferris
State University in June 1994 with a Bachelor Degree in Business
Administration. Instead of taking a job with Enterprise Rent-ACar, I decided to work with my dad and his partner Kent to sell
wings and beer. We opened our first store in December 1994 in
Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
What is your favorite thing about the brand? My favorite thing
about the BWW brand is the people that stand behind it and for
it. I have been fortunate to work with some very talented people
over the years of being in business. These team members, fellow
franchisees and corporate personnel have taught me something
new each day and with this knowledge it has given me the ability
to make a difference and for that I am very grateful.

community moving forward.
In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge currently facing
franchisees? The changing landscape related to employment
issues are eroding our control over our businesses and the ability
to efficiently manage and operate profitable operations such as
the NLRB joint-employer standard, healthcare reform, tipped
employee class action suits, mandatory paid sick leave, mandatory breaks and the expense of HR/payroll systems to track and
manage changes with each of those.
In your opinion, what is the most valuable benefit franchisees
receive as members of FBS? The most valuable benefit FBS
members receive is the ability to capitalize on many years of
common business experience among the members, share ideas
that can benefit the entire group and take advantage of financial
saving through the buying power.
The second most valuable benefit of the FBS is that it allows
you to talk to people that do the same thing as you each day,
which reassures you that you are not the on
