READY TO DO BATTLE
Jazzmyn Canfield turned heads at the 2013 Loretta Lynn’s National Championship,
not only because she dominated every moto for the Championship plate in the
Girls 9-11 class, but because she was the only girl racing in the 85 (9-11) Limited, earning 18th overall in a class of 42. Her 2013 Girls 9-11 title also marked nine
straight Loretta’s moto wins since 2011.

Following in the footsteps of female
racers like Vicki Golden and Hannah
Hodges, Canfield doesn’t shy away
from competing against the boys. In
fact, she enjoys racing against boys
because they’re more aggressive, and
it pushes her to work harder to keep up.
This season, Canfield switched to a
KTM and immediately shaved nine
seconds off her lap time. At the James
Stewart Freestone Spring Championship, she embarked on a new challenge: moving up to the 12-16 class,
racing against more experienced
female racers like Hannah Hodges.
We sat down with Canfield to talk racing motocross, battling the boys, and
some of her lesser known talents.
Tell us a little about who you are and
how you got involved in motocross.
I was 5 when started riding. I got into
riding from my dad. He used to ride
street bikes and he was a stunt rider.
Well he had a Honda 50 with street
tires he warmed up on. One day I
asked him if I could ride it and he
said yes and I liked it. So he sold all his
street bikes and we started riding and
racing motocross.
