Hit play ‘Bouncers’ comes to Stewarton
stewarton drama group are all set to bring john godber’s celebrated play ‘bouncers’ to ayrshire this autumn. and news that
the award-winning group are staging the popular show has already sparked a rush for advance ticket orders.
The smash-hit comedy/drama will be staged in the Stewarton Area
Centre at 7.30pm on Thursday 9th, Friday 10th and Saturday 11th
October 2014 to open Stewarton Drama Group’s 42nd season of drama.
This fast-moving, night-time comedy is John Godber’s most performed
work. It made the National Theatre’s list of the top 100 plays of the 20th
century and is studied widely in schools.
Acutely observant, sharply funny, and often hard-hitting, the play relies
on the four performers morphing throughout the play from menacing
doormen to a gaggle of flirtatious handbag-wielding girls to lagerswilling, lairy lads and a myriad of other characters.
The audience are in for a real treat as they are taken on a compelling,
and at times shocking, journey covering every aspect of the Big
Friday Night Out, from its optimistic start, through the booze-fuelled
nightclub mating games to the sober early hours reality as the worldweary bouncers sift through the debris of a night they’ve seen a million
times before.
The talented quartet of actors who will portray the twilight world of the
four doormen in SDG’s production are Jim Goldie who plays ‘Lucky
Eric’, David Robertson who plays ‘Judd’, Brian Smith who plays ‘Les’
and Gavin Cook who plays ‘Ralph’ .
