Our Section focus in this issue is the Anchor Boys. Our Anchor boys are from p1 (min age 5) to P3. Boys can do a maximum of 3 years before moving into the Junior Section in Primary 4. Every night our Anchor Boys have a varied programme and have lots of fun making things, crafts, music, games, sports, stories, going on visits, making friends, and working towards their badges – highlights of the night being everyone’s favourite dodge ball! The badgework is done as part of a balanced programme that is separated into 5 different zones :- Body- fit for fun; Mind - think and do, Spirit - God and me; Community - me and my world; and Creativity - make and do Each year our Anchor Boys join boys from East Ayrshire Battalion for various events to let the boys have fun activities and also meeting boys from other Companies. We have a park visit, dressing up theme day, soft play/colouring and also a visit from an Entertainer. As well as our weekly programme our Anchor Boys also attend the local Stewarton Drama Group Pantomime and also a joint trip with the Junior Section – this session we are going to Blairdummond Safari Park. As well as Stewarton we attract boys from Dunlop, Fenwick, Lugton and Kilmaurs. We welcome recruits all year round and boys are more than welcome to join at any time over the session. We hold stocks of uniform which consist of a blue polo shirt and red sweatshirt. We encourage new boys to wear their school uniform when joining just for a couple of weeks to make sure they will enjoy it. At the end of last session Janet Marshall retired. Janet became an officer after both her sons came through the Brigade and she then served for 12 years. We would like to thank Janet for her service and input over the years and I am sure she will still turn up to help now and again when required. Please come along and try it, and if your son would like to join, the staff are there from 5:30pm where they can meet and talk to parents before the section starts to arrive before 6pm. Contact W. Campbell on 07932-540097 or [email protected] for any further information on Anchor Boys or any other section. We also have a Facebook page – just search for 1st Stewarton Boys Brigade and follow what the Company have been up to and what programme we have planned for the session.
