The “A country of the Commonwealth” theme for the decorated shop window displays and float parade on Saturday 21 June, is sure to be one of the most colourful and anticipated parts of the week and we are hoping for record participation in this our 81st year! The eagerly anticipated festival returns with a week of the usual fun, games and activities planned, for all ages to enjoy. The traditional torchlight procession, which was revived last year to mark the 80th anniversary of the Bonnet Guild, will return again, taking place on Saturday 14 June this year. The procession will commence at 10pm on the roadway outside The Centre, Standalane, Stewarton. Wax torches will be on sale to over 18's for £4.00 and high intensity glow sticks to under 18's for £2.50. Procession will proceed along Lainshaw Street, into Main Street, then High Street and Dean Street before finishing at the waste ground at Dean Street. Participants are asked to adhere to the following health and safety rules; good conduct is required. Only official torches are allowed in the procession. All wax torches must be placed in the braziers at the finish on arrival. Please don’t wear good clothes as wax can drip from torches. For the full programme of festival event details see Bonnet Guild Souvenir Programme - on door to door sale at the end of May and then in various outlets around the town. Please support your Bonnet Guild programme sellers! The Bonnet Guild festival began in 1933 and was originally created by local businessmen in Stewarton to provide a summer gala day for local families. Today, it is a weeklong community festival, run by volunteer members of the Bonnet Guild – a non-profit organisation. All proceeds raised from this year’s festival will go towards ensuring the local festival will return next year for the whole community to enjoy once again. tor chli ght pa r ade 20 13 cors e hill que e n s from y e ars gon e by gathe re d to g e th e r at the c row n in g to m ark the bon n e t guild's 80th a nni ve r s a ry a bove : shop wi n dow com e t i t i on wi n n ers & t he t en n i s tour name n t bonn e t gui ld foot b all wi nne rs b elow : fan c y d r es s c o m p e t i ti on
