james forbes ellis has always enjoyed
football having watched and played in
many games since he was a young boy
growing up in glasgow.
He continued to play even after he started
work but then decided to become a referee in
the late seventies. He moved from Glasgow
to Stewarton with his wife Anna in 1979 and
began refereeing in Ayrshire. In 1982 Anna
and Forbes were offered the opportunity
to visit Hamburg with Stewarton Annick
Football Club and soon after he joined the
team’s committee. He has continued this
involvement for over thirty years and today
