“ high 5 ” holiday club at st . columba ' s !

St . Columba ' s Parish Church , Stewarton held its annual Summer Holiday Club for children in early August when over 50 children attended . We were very happy to welcome nursery-age siblings of the club children and were hugely helped by a team of S1-S3 children . Thanks to a generous anonymous donation we were able to provide tee-shirt “ uniforms ” with the High Five logo . Through games , songs , arts & crafts , drama and story we focussed on the hands of Jesus and how he wants us to use ours for his glory today . There was a strong “ Fair-trade ” dimension to each day ’ s event where the needs in the Developing World received a high profile . The Holiday Club All-Age Sunday Celebration Service was a happy and highly participative affair , ending in the Hall with the Holiday Club cake , ice-cream and two bouncy castles . The Minister and “ High 5 ” Team are very grateful to Annick Art for its generous discounts and to all the families for their enthusiasm and donations . The week ’ s cash donations from Holiday Club families and those from Church members at Sunday ’ s Celebration amounted to the amazing total of £ 660 . These generously given donations are greatly appreciated . They were taken to Malawi by the Minister on his August Study Leave assignment and passed to the Malawian Church ’ s Orphan Care Programme , film clips of which featured in our “ High 5 ” activities .
friendship & faith
This mid week fellowship time with arts , crafts , games , coffee , chat and worship in the hall , resumes on Tues Sep 27 from 1.30 – 3 pm , and on the last Tuesday monthly thereafter . All are welcome !
stillness service
In Church each Sunday at 4.30 p . m .
Bereaved friends have found this to be a specially helpful time of reflection in Church . The Minister encourages all , whatever their circumstances , to join him in this time of silent prayer and soft music . By dividing up the Roll alphabetically , all church members are prayed for in the silence by the Minister at the Stillness Service over the course of each month .
bereavement
Folks within our parish boundaries are kindly reminded that whether or not they are members , the Church is always willing to help in times of crises , including bereavement . Parishioners are most welcome to ask , direct , for the help of the Minister ( Rev . George Lind tel : 01560 485113 ) and also to ask the Funeral Director to contact the Minister to arrange a Christian Funeral Service , whether in Church or at the Crematorium .
