Stewarton Woodlands Action Trust Provide Bins for Dog Walkers
SWAT has had a busy summer as usual , our main priority having been the attempt to control the invasive weeds that seemed to have taken over the river banks and beyond . Special thanks must go to David McKenzie , who has tirelessly worked alongside the Ayrshire Rivers Trust , spraying in extremely warm conditions some days . Not an enviable task !
Our main project has been the provision of dog waste bins , one at the entrance to Lainshaw Woods on the Kilwinning Road , and one at the top of the Fisherman ’ s Steps . If these prove to be successful in terms of stopping some dog walkers from throwing filled bags into shrubs , trees and verges , and also provide benefit to responsible dog walkers , we will consider having a campaign to get more of them in the town . Our 2017 calendar will be on sale from October onwards , so those who ’ d like to see more bins provided , can help by boosting our funds , and buying a calendar ! In the meantime , we hope Stewarton residents continue to get enjoyment from using the path network in the town .
