stewarton boys’ brigade display
On Friday 13th May, 1st Stewarton held
their Annual Display at Stewarton Academy.
A great turnout with around 200 parents
and just under 100 boys attending on the
night. We welcomed Bill Stevenson as our
Inspecting Officer; Bill is Acting CEO/
Brigade Secretary. Also attending on the
night was Stewart Campbell who retired
last year after over 30 years’ service to 1st
Stewarton Company and helped with
presenting the awards on the night. Each of
the Sections put on items which consisted
of games, drill, figure marching, stories and
sketches. The highlight of the night was
Presentation of 6 Queens Awards by Bill
Stevenson, taking our total for 1st Stewarton
to 65 Queens Men from 1985.
junior section head to camp
During the May weekend we headed down
to Girvan for 3 days and 2 nights to Girvan
North Parish Church. 20 Boys and 4 staff
spent a weekend of fun and fellowship. A
great experience for boys and staff alike.
They were well fed and a busy programme

around the town and a wee visit up to Ayr
to the swimming pool. A lot of positive
feedback from parents and boys alike with
the best comment being... “We need a bigger
TV for the FIFA competition”.
guard of honour
On Sunday 22nd May seven of our Company
/Senior boys left at 7am to travel through
to Edinburgh to represent East Ayrshire
Battalion at the Guard of Honour for the
Lord High Commissioner Parade! The boys
had a great day and did us proud!

Anchors and Juniors to the 5 Sisters Zoo
in Livingston – where we will be able to
see the bears we sponsored on behalf of 1st
Stewarton Boys' Brigade a couple of years
back, thanks to Janet Marshall.
