Alex Young, the founder and current chairman of
the Scot Seat Group of Fenwick, along with
son Jonathan, Managing Director of the
Scot Seat Group competed in the
2016 Historique Monte Carlo Rally
that started from Paisley at
the end of January.

experienced navigator Michael Hyrons, Alex has
fulfilled a lifetime ambition in competing in the
Historique Monte Carlo rally.
Alex started competing in motorsport from the age of 16 in an Izeta
bubble car being a founder member of the East Ayrshire Car Club. He
gave up competing in motorsport due to business commitments then got
involved in motorsport again when son Jonathan started racing quads
before entering into car circuit racing and latterly winning the Scottish

The father son pairing have not only fulfilled a lifelong ambition to
compete in the rally they are using the event to raise money for the
Outward Bound Trust (www.outwardbound.org.uk). The Outward
Bound Trust is an educational charity that uses the outdoors to help
develop young people from all walks of life. The Young family have
supported the Outward Bound Trust for many years now and are hoping
to raise in excess of £15,000 for the trust through competing in the rally.
The rally started at Paisley Abbey on Wednesday 27th January with the
first car off the line at 6pm. There were food and drink stalls with cars
ageing from 1930’s to 1980’s who started the journey to Reims (France)
where nearly 400 cars met from Paisley, Oslo (Norway), Bad Homburg
(Germany) Barcelona (Spain) before setting off for Monte Carlo with
them finishing during the night on 2nd February.
The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity
that uses the outdoors to help develop young
people from all walks of life. Through the generosity
of our donors, we are able to run adventurous
and challenging outdoor learning programmes
that equip young people with valuable skills for
education, work and life. We help them become
more confident, more effective and more capable at
school, college and in the workplace.
