Sleep related breathing disorder ( SRBD ) is a continuum of the mechanical collapse of the pharynx during sleep from mild occasional snoring , to symptomatic flow limitation , and finally to severe obstructive sleep apnea . The present independent approach by physicians with CPAP and dentists with oral appliances leave too many patients receiving less than optimum treatment . A new , comprehensive approach to both diagnosis and treatment will be presented including hybrid devices which integrate both approaches to treatment .
