The Mirror, CAPD's Newsletter, June 2014 June, 2014 | Page 12

Dear CAPD-ACDP MEMBERS, I am asking that you please take a few minutes to renew your membership in CAPDACDP. Current memberships expire on July 1st, 2014. As you can tell from the emails you have been receiving since the launch of our new website last year, we have been striving to bring value to our members by representing the interests of pediatric dentists at every possible opportunity. A great example of this was CAPD's representation in front of a CDRAF committee where we took a strong stand against dental anesthesia becoming a national specialty, with the result that the application for national specialty recognition was rejected. In addition we are working with other associations such as the CPS, OSPD, CDA and AAPD to share information and where possible, to streamline joint memberships. Furthermore, we've created the staff position of Director of Operations to look after the details of the database, event coordination and website development. What else? An affirmation vote of the revised By-Laws of the Academy will take place at the AGM --please see http://capdacdp.org/By-laws. We’re updating the advertising guidelines to allow for members to post positions and practices notices at no cost on the website. The Mirror Newsletter will once again be sent to members 3-4 times per year to help you stay informed. And of course... The Annual Meeting in Montreal on September 12-13 will serve as the main educational/networking/social event of the year. If you have not already looked at the schedule, please do! We have a great city (Montreal), a great venue (The Marriott Chateau Champlain Hotel), an amazing slate of speakers, and two wonderful evening activities: a gourmet dinner-cruise on the St. Lawrence River on Friday evening and the President's Dinner on the Saturday evening. In addition we will be showcasing the products and services of a number of key sponsors/partners, as well as presenting the 3M ESPE award for the best presentation of a Student Abstract. We have arranged for discounted flights and rail to attend the meeting from all regions of the country. All-inall, this is going to be a terrific event and we hope you will join us. There is still space available at the event. Please register before July 15th http://capd-acdp.org/events. So, if I may suggest for your 'to do' list: 1) Please renew your membership on or before July 1st. Log into your file on the website, using your email. If you forgot your password, no problem--just click on "forgot password" and choose another one.
