Duke of Edinburgh Expedition 34 Year 11 students completed their Bronze D of E expedition last weekend. Students walked through the Peak District from Baslow, through Chatsworth, around Youlgreave and into Monyash. Most will hopefully move on to the Gold award! The allotment has been turned into a working kitchen garden that hopes to supply the canteen with some fruit and veg for special dishes at lunchtime. We provided the canteen with 6 kilos of plums from which they made plum crumble and plum pastries - the nurture group were given tasters of the pudding to enjoy! We are currently growing broad beans, onions, potatoes and runner beans for the spring. We also hope to have a variety of herbs and edible flowers available soon as well. Quotes about the plum puddings from staff and pupils: 'It was lovely to see the canteen and nurture group working together to produce fabulous puddings' 'Lovely crumble!' 'I don't like fruit, but I love plum pudding!'
