Preparing Year 12 Students for University Over the past few weeks, the process of preparing students for Higher Education has begun in earnest: Higher Education Evening As part of the preparation process for university, a Higher Education Evening for parents was held on Tuesday 21st June. As part of this, the University of Nottingham gave a talk about finance and university and a talk was also given about the UCAS process. A number of ex-students came to the evening and talked about their experiences of university to date. We have a UCAS widget on the Sixth Form website, which makes using the UCAS website easier and more accessible for students and parents. We now also have a very useful careers area on the school website which you can access by clicking on the student tab or you can use this link: http://kimberleyschool.co.uk/ virtual-careers-library-2 ew s 3 Leavers’ BBQ leaving school after with great weather adding a well-deserved break from all ernoon of quizzes, music, food, ur tutors and Mrs Livings. ng a lot of the You can Higher Education Trip to a UCAS Event On Friday 17th June, all of Year 12 had the chance to go to a UCAS event where nearly every Higher Education provider, along with a number of Apprenticeship providers, were represented. It was a very informative and enjoyable experience and helped some students gain a much clearer idea about what their next step after school should be. Oxbridge Preparation Along with the Oxbridge summer schools opportunities, we are running a trip to Oxford on 29th June for interested students in Year 12 and 13. Summer Schools A number of our students have been accepted for summer schools run by universities. These were very successful experiences last year, enabling Year 12 students to see first- hand what university life is like, so we hope they will gain a lot from the week.
