Primary
Matters
Over the last few weeks we have been busy
welcoming Year 6 students to The Kimberley School.
We began with visits to all our feeder primaries and
Hempshill Hall Primary School. During the visits,
students were given the opportunity to ask questions
which were varied and interesting, ranging from ‘What
foreign trips are there?’ (France, Spain, Germany, Italy,
Malaysia just to mention a few) to ‘Will I get lost?’
(probably for the first few days but just ask one of our
older students and they will help you) and ‘What jabs do
we get?’ (I was, and still am, unable to answer this one
but what a great question!) Hopefully, students found
these visits reassuring and will be able to approach
their start at The Kimberley School with confidence.
For those students who have been worried about
moving up to the secondary phase, we organise a
number of extra activities designed to support them
in their transition and reassure them that there is
nothing to worry about. Some of these students have
had lunch with some of our current Year 7s and joined
in their lessons, whilst others have spent time meeting
their tutor and touring the school with them. We know
that moving school is hard for all but it is even harder
for some students. If you think your child may find the
transition process difficult, please contact us once your
child’s place has been confirmed and we can work to
ensure that your child is fully supported throughout the
transition process.
Our induction club goes from strength to strength.
Activities were varied this year, ranging from a
challenge to see who could design a harness from
paper and string that was strong enough to ensure
that an egg dropped fro
