Girls Football The girls have had a successful year making their way through a number of competitions to the final stages. The Year 7 and 8 girls’ team made it through to the Nottinghamshire County Cup final. An impressive display from the girls but, unfortunately it ended in a 4-1 defeat to West Bridgford who also knocked the girls out of the South Notts competition at the semi-final stages. However, 2nd best in the county is a fantastic achievement. The Year 10 and 11 girls made it through as county champions in the 5 a side Futsal competition. On Sunday 31st May, they represented Nottinghamshire in the Regional Finals. They ended as runners up to a football club from Leicestershire who won the national competition the previous year. Girls Rounders Both the Year 7 and 8 team, and Year 9 and 10 team, performed well in the Broxtowe tournaments. The Year 9 and 10 team put on an impressive display but unfortunately lost out in a three way tie for first place on rounders scored. This was after losing a tight final game by ½ a rounder. The Year 7 and 8 team lost out in the semi-final to a very good Alderman White team. Year 7 Girls Basketball The girls qualified by beating George Spencer in the Broxtowe competition to the county finals. In May we hosted the Broxtowe Schools Boccia league. The teams played in two pools and in the final week we reached the final playing George Spencer. It was a close fought game but we came second. A great effort by the players and well done to the Year 7 students who officiated the competition themselves. The SKY Living for Sport Students were met by their athlete mentor and Olympian, Maria Bertelli at Larkfield Infants Sports Day. The students were there to help lead some of the activities on the day and showed great enthusiasm and encouragement to the youngsters. Maria was proud of them and has watched them improve their confidence and leadership skills over the year. Year 7 students also came along to help with the day and support the activities; they were also superb. Once again, we have achieved the Bronze Sportsmark this year thanks to the commitment of staff and students to competitive sports and taking up leadership opportunities. Well done to Anna Purchase, Morgan Gallimore and Amy Keady for their athletic achievements so far this year representing Broxtowe and Nottinghamshire. Anna and Morgan have been chosen to represent the region in July. Well done to the Year 8 and 9 leaders who helped at Mornington Primary School Sports Day on Tuesday 23rd June. They really enjoyed helping during the day and did a great job including the construction of gazebos! A fabulous effort on a warm day. There are more leaders going to help at Hollywell Primary School before the end of term so good luck to them. They attended the county tournament and the girls fought hard but came up against som
