Parent Teacher Association News
The Kimberley School Parent
Teacher Association have had a
really successful year and we are
on target to raise £5000 in 2 years
which was our commitment to the
school made last September. We
currently have 8 parents and 1
teacher on our committee and we
are the strongest we have been
for some years. We are happy to
welcome any parents to join our
association and if you have any
fundraising ideas then please do
get in touch with us.
In the last 6 months, we have
hosted a very successful Fashion
Show/Sale. This year we used a
new company called Risley House
Fashions, and the evening was
attended by nearly 100 people
and the feedback was all positive.
People loved the quality and
affordability of the clothes on offer
and the evening was made even
more memorable by our own
careful chosen models! The com-
pany took nearly £2,000 in sales
on the night and the PTA received
a cheque for 10% of their takings.
We have booked this company
again and the next event is to be
held in the school hall on Thursday
12 November 2015.
In April this year, we organised and
hosted our own Spring Fair. There
were various stalls from local
business and our own cake stall,
wine or water game were very
popular. Children from Year 7 put
lots of effort into their planning and
organising of their own stalls which
ranged from blind-folded painting
to hook a duck and Jude Corkish
(aged 6) won our Name the Bear
competition.
We were very lucky that our own
school cook, Sara Burton, very
kindly made lots of delicious cakes
and cream teas and organised
the sale of these in our own café
style room.
The next PTA Spring Fair has been
booked for Saturday 7th May 2016
and more information will follow
next year.
Our future PTA meetings from
September 2015 will now be held
within the school building (no
longer at the Nelson and Railway
public house); these are all for
Thursday nights and will be from
7pm. We are hoping that this will
encourage more parents to attend
future meetings.
The dates are:
10 September 2015
22 October 2015
19 November 2015
14 January 2016 (AGM)
11 February 2016
17 March 2016
21 April 2016
19 May 2016
16 June 2016
