It has been another very busy
period in the Sixth Form with
more than 5 weeks of exams
followed by lots of events
and activities.

the Oxbridge summer schools opportunities, we are running a trip to
Oxford and to Cambridge in early July

Preparing Year 12 for
University
Over the past few weeks, the process
of preparing students for Higher Education has begun in earnest:
Higher Education Evening: As part
of the preparation process for university
a Higher Education Evening for parents
was held on Tuesday 16th June. As part
of this, the University of Nottingham
gave a talk about finance and university
and a talk was also given about the
UCAS process.
A number of ex-students came to
the evening and talked about their
experiences of university to date.
We now have a UCAS widget on the
Sixth Form website, which makes
using the UCAS website easier and
more accessible for students and
parents.
Year 12 Biology Field Trip
11 of our Year 12 students headed
off on Saturday 27th to Singapore and
Tioman Island for the Biology trip
of a lifetime! They arrived safely in
Singapore on Sunday 28th June and as
this is being written, they are taking part
in field work on Tioman Island - along
with lots of snorkelling! They return
to England on 5th July and we look
forward to hearing all about their
experiences.
Thank You
The Year 13s have had an enormously
positive impact within school, as well as
in the wider community, through their
charity work throughout the past year.
They have raised well over £5000 for
good causes and, once the final charity
event of the year has taken place,
they should have hit their £7000
target! We are very grateful for all the
efforts the members of the charity
committee have put in to all the events
this year.
The Final Charity Event of
the Year - 15th July
The new Year 12 Charity Committee
have already started planning for the
final charity event of the year. They
plan to work alongside Year 13 to raise
money for the school fund as well as for
victims of the Nepal earthquake.
Year 13 Farewell BBQ
On Wednesday 24th June, we bid a
very sad farewell to our Year 13s. It has
been a pleasure and a privilege for all
of those staff involved with this year
group to see them mature and develop
over the past two years. The afternoon
involved lots of food, quizzes, speeches
and culminated in the premiere of the
staff DVD, which we have made as a
farewell gift to Year 13 (you can watch
this both on the school website and in
our interactive newsletter). The effort
