Kimberley School Sport News Important Notices Valuables in the PE Changing Rooms Safety of your valuables is paramount to the PE Faculty at The Kimberley School. Even though the number of incidents of theft within the main-school and leisure centre changing rooms since Christmas has vastly reduced, the odd isolated incident still occurs. Please hand in your valuables at the start of lessons to the PE teachers to be locked safely away. PE Kit Since we have returned after Easter, the number of students either not bringing kit or attending with incorrect kit to PE lessons has risen. This is a reminder that you should be wearing: - Your school branded polo shirt - Black/Navy tracksuit bottoms or shorts (girls can wear black leggings in yrs 10/11, but not in Years 7/8/9) - Suitable footwear with ankle support If you fail to follow the above rules, you will be provided with a kit and also receive a department detention that takes place after school for 30 mins. Inclusive Cricket Champions A mixed school cricket team participated in the Nottinghamshire Inclusive Cricket Competition on Wednesday 25th July. Throughout the day, every member of the team displayed excellent sportsmanship and sporting values, working as a team to become the Nottinghamshire Champions. The team were unbeaten throughout the tournament and were led to victory by captain Kane Storer. The team consisted of: Kane Storer (captain), Ashley Danby (vice captain), Shannon McEvoy, Casey Bramley, Joshua Rossington, Cameron Hind, Ben Peet, Tyler Swann and Logan Lees. Nottinghamshire School Games Champions On Friday 4th July, 3 teams from the The Kimberley School represented Broxtowe as regional champions at the Nottinghamshire Sainsbury’s School Games. The boys Year 10 dodgeball finished 5th place, the pan disability football team across Years 7 to 11 lead by Geoff Collins finished as silver medalists, whilst the girls dodgeball team captained by Chloe Shelton picked up the gold medals. Congratulations to all students involved, demonstrating a fantastic example of sporting excellence within The Kimberley School. Kind regards. Cycling not your thing? Go along to Lakeside Arts Centre to cheer the riders on and enjoy a BBQ and post-ride celebrations. There will be something for everyone on the day and every penny raised will go towards vital research to help young brain tumour sufferers and their families. It’s all part of The University of Nottingham’s wider charity cycling challenge in which the Vice-Chancellor and his team will ride 1,400+ miles taking in all four corners of Great Britain in aid of Children’s Brain Tumour Research. Funds raised will enable crucial advances to be made into understanding the cause, nature, treatment and outcomes of childhood brain tumours.
