Comes To The Kimberley School Year 11 students of German had the chance to sample some traditional Bavarian food and drink as part of their study and research into German festivals and celebrations. Oktoberfest, which is celebrated in Munich at the end of September, is one of the world’s largest folk festivals. The first such festival took place over 200 years ago to mark the marriage of Bavarian Prince Ludwig I and Princess Therese in 1810. More recently it has been attracting between 6-7 million visitors each year and attracts visitors from as far afield as Australia, Japan and the USA. Our students enjoyed researching the festival, watching a German news documentary about it and completing a quiz. They were then invited to prepare and taste traditional German foods, such as Bockwurst (hot dogs), Sauerkraut, Gherkins and Kartoffelsalat (potato salad) …. Although beer was substituted with apple juice! Prost! Animation Club The Animation Club has worked tirelessly for the last 12 weeks on producing their new video called ‘Christmas Arguments! We hope you enjoy it!
