Morgan Gallimore Head Teacher Award
School
Morgan Gallimore has been involved in many aspects
of school from the usual expectations of reaching
his potential in lessons, working to his target grades,
attendance and punctuality being excellent, to the work
he has done in extracurricular activities.
In music he has been involved in anything that promotes
the music department to students, staff, parents and
primary schools. Over the last 4 years, he has been
involved in school performances in planning, teaching
and organising. He has been involved in entertaining
primary schools and encouraging younger students
to participate in music at secondary school. He has
actively promoted the music department in school
shows and special awards evenings. He plays trumpet
to Grade 6 and drums to Grade 8.
He does not only excel in music but his involvement in
sport has earned him many rewards. Over the years he
has represented the school and county in both cross
country and swimming. He has also reached county
level in both.
Music
He has played in Blidworth Brass Band for many years
(7+ years) as a percussionist, ranging from xylophones
(tuned percussion) to the drum kit and Orchestral
Percussion (Non-tuned percussion).
14 year old Morgan made a worldwide impression
recently after winning the top section ‘Best Soloist’
award at the Bolsover Festival of Brass. Morgan took
the ‘Best Soloist’ award in the Championship Section
event, with his stunning performance of ‘Helter Skelter’
with Blidworth Welfare Band.
Morgan has also had the prestigious position of playing
‘The Last Post’ ‘for the last two years at Kimberley
Town Centre at the National Remembrance Service to
commemorate those who lost their lives for our
freedom. Of all the uniforms he has donned over the
years, he chose to wear his school uniform, in itself a
tribute to his commitment to The Kimberley School.
Sport
Morgan is a member of a local athletics club in which he
trains for both triathlon and cross country. He participates
at national level in both but also puts extra time into
supporting coaching to younger students to develop
their potential. Morgan is a member of a swimming club
and trains regularly as well as competing regularly.
How Morgan can organise himself to manage all
his commitments in and out of school, and still be a
model student, is commendable and a credit to his
focus, determination and commitment to succeed in
everything he does.
