REPUTATION - In the technical language of Freemasonry, a man of good reputation is said to be one who is "under the tongue of good report"; and this constitutes one of the indispensable qualifications of a candidate for initiation.

In the dictionary we find the full definition of REPUTATION as, “Overall quality or character as seen or judged by people in general and recognition by other people of some characteristic or ability." Example would be, 'has the reputation of being clever.' Also place in public esteem or regard as in a good or bad name. An example would be, 'as someone trying to protect his reputation,' or, 'as someone trying to ruin his reputation.'
