What is a chateau?

Well it’s not the simple answer you might think as there are different types and styles of chateaux in France. The literal translation is of course castle. From Versailles to the Chateau le Mung, even a relatively plan but large country house, or a grand house in a vineyard – they say that an Englishman’s home is his castle and it seems that France is no different.
