Honoring a sister from the Kappa Delta Chi DC Alunmae Chapter

In honor of Memorial Day, the KDChi (award winning!) DC Alumnae chapter is honored to give the spotlight to sister Catalina Rosales Gonzalez.
She is a Major in the United States Army, working as an Air Defense Artillery Officer. Her impressive list of accomplishments include being a Chief Fire Controller of a Brigade-sized element (5,000+ Soldiers), commanding her own outfit, a Patriot Missile battery of 120 Soldiers in support of Operation Enduring Freedom & defending Isa Airbase from missile attacks.
As Catalina's career in the Army progressed, she was later selected for the JCS/OSD/ARSTAF Fellowship (Joint Chiefs of Staff/Office of Secretary of Defense/Army Staff). This fellowship is regarded as a highly competitive fellowship that selects 20 officers a year for a Masters of Policy Management at Georgetown with a follow-on two-year assignment at the Joint Chiefs of Staff and then at the Army Staff where she currently works.
Catalina will soon be leaving DC, as she has been selected to be the Operations Officer for 1-7 ADA battalion in Fort Bragg, NC.

Sisters of Kappa Delta Chi,
It is with great pleasure that I, and the Board of Directors, share this momentous occasion with each and everyone on of you. It is hard to believe Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. is celebrating its 30th Anniversary. It seems like only yesterday, I attended my first conference in Arlington, Texas, hosted by the Epsilon chapter in 1998, where we celebrated our 11th anniversary. At that time, the Xi chapter had recently been initiated, there were only five national officers and the national foundation and national alumnae association were being founded during this conference weekend. While many of us hoped and were planning for the long-term success of the organization, it is almost unimaginable we have grown to the organization we have become.
While our organization’s maturity has not been without its growing pains, it has been a beautiful process. Many of the individuals in national leadership have met countless charters and members throughout our tenures. And while generations continue to change, the purpose remains the same, to give back to our local communities, to graduate our members and to love one another as sisters in Christ.
I hope many of our sisters will participate in a variety of Founders’ Week events and that many will be in attendance at this year’s national conference in Orlando, Florida. It is through these sisterhood events we can come together as sisters to exemplify who we are as individuals and as an organization. Take this time to learn about one another, how to support your local community and how you can continue to support the organization and sisterhood we all love.
Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. has come a long way, but we have much more to do. Each and every one of you is an integral component to what we will continue to become. In the coming months, and throughout your involvement in our sisterhood, we will continue to seek your feedback and your support to help our organization move forward. We hope that each of you and those who come after you, will continue to be active within our organization, to help support our new members, our actives, our alumnae and our organization as a whole. It is through this continued involvement KD Chi will be the organization we all want to see, a true “pearl without a price.” May we continue to learn, grow and make the dreams of our organization a reality.
