Standard Sales Company, Co.

The Standard Sales Company business model is unique for the beer distribution industry. Most distributorships are family owned and operated, but thanks to Ted Roden, longtime and beloved Odessa resident, Standard Sales is management owned. In 1952, Ted Roden was working with his brother, Tom “Pinkie” Roden, in the packaged liquor business when he had an opportunity to enter the beer business. He purchased the Anheuser-Busch distributorship servicing Odessa, Midland and Big Spring, Texas. From 1959 through 1984, Roden expanded the operation to Lubbock and San Angelo, Texas; Idaho Springs and Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Olive Branch, Mississippi. In 1984, he elected to sell the company to his key management team and designed a business model to keep the company in management’s hands. The company, well positioned for growth, quickly acquired the additional territories of Pueblo, Littleton and Alamosa, Colorado. Today, the company continues to grow, and has recently expanded to Louisville and Owensboro, Kentucky..
