The Discerner Andy Davey
I paint as a form of free expression . I use a range of media ; acrylics for their suitability to quick , dynamic “ action ” painting , oils for their rich depth of colour and beautiful on-canvas mixing effects and watercolours for their luminosity . My abstract paintings mostly come out of half-sleep or meditation , though sometimes they are inspired by natural landscape . I look for a compositional balance between visual “ comfort ” and chaos . There is for me a point of beauty between the two , though where that balance point lies and whether I ever reach that point will be subjective for each viewer .
