Zaback Leads 2016 Player of the Year Race Heading into Fall Swing
Zach Zaback of TPC River Highlands has a 318 point lead over Corey Birch heading into the final leg of
the 2016 tournament season, and with just a handful of events left, he has all but secured his second
CSGA Dick Tettelbach Player of the Year title. The catch? Both Zaback and Birch turned professional
this past July and are no longer eligible to earn additional points. Of the players within reach, only
Dave Szewczul of Tunxis Plantation CC has a chance to catch Zaback. Szewczul, who sits in 7th place
with 263 points, successfully qualified for the 2016 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship, which begins
September 17th. A semifinalist appearance at the U.S. Senior Amateur would earn him 300 points, and
a win at the Connecticut Mid-Amateur would earn him 250 points, giving him a total of 813 points and
his second CSGA Player of the Year title.
