JUNIOR GOLF A First: CSGA to host Junior Four-Ball Championship T he CSGA is proud to announce the establishment of a new championship, the Junior Four-Ball Championship, which will be played for the first time at Pequabuck Golf Club on July 16th. The first of it’s kind in Connecticut, the Junior Four-Ball is designed to encourage junior golfers to compete in a team atmosphere while preparing them for other Four-Ball events, such as the Connecticut Four-Ball Championship at Yale and the U.S. Four-Ball Qualifier at CC of Farmington. Eligibility for the Junior Four-Ball is limited to amateur golfers who have not reached their 18th birthday on or before July 16th. Only one member of the team is required to have an active handicap index at a CSGA member club, and the combined team handicap index may not exceed 30.0. The Junior Four-Ball Championship is the first new championship added to the CSGA schedule since the establishment of the Senior Match Play Championship in 2007. Four-ball has become an increasingly popular format at state and regional golf associations across the U.S, with more than 150 Four-Ball championships conducted across the country. The USGA will conduct it’s first U.S. Four-Ball Championship on May 2nd - 6th 22 | CSGA Links // March, 2015 at The Olympic Club. In addition to the Junior Four-Ball Championship, the CSGA will conduct four other Four-Ball events The Four-Ball Championship at Yale (August 6th), the Senior Four-Ball at Indian Hill CC (August 25th), and two One Day Tournament Four-Ball Events (May 11th at Chippanee and September 1st at Skungamaug River). www.csgalinks.org
