The First Tee of Connecticut Announces 2014 Programs T he First Tee of Connecticut introduces the game of golf and its inherent values to over 63,000 youth annually across the state. In partnership with 14 golf facilities, 140 schools and partnering youth service agencies like Hartford’s Camp Courant and the Channel 3 Kids Camp, they’ve helped positively impact countless young people from all walks of life by teaching them values like Integrity, Respect and Perseverance through the game of golf. In addition to learning fundamentals of the golf swing and the game, young people are introduced to character education and life skills programs which help prepare them for success on the course, in the classroom and beyond. The First Tee Life Skills Experience is one of the unique features that differentiates The First Tee from other youth initiatives and junior golf programs. The Life Skills Experience helps young people build character by focusing on Nine Core Values: Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy and Judgment and Nine Healthy Habits: Energy, Play, Safety, Vision, Mind, Family, Friends, School and Community. The First Tee Nine Healthy Habits were created through collaboration among The First Tee, the ANNIKA Foundation, and Florida Hospital for Children to promote healthy, active lifestyles for young people. • • • • Spring Programs held April – May; registration currently available Summer Programs held July – August; registration begins Monday, June 2 Fall Programs held September – October; registration begins Monday, August 4 Summer Camps held July – August; registration begins Tuesday, April 1 Locations across the state include Cromwell, Hartford, Waterbury, New Haven, Prospect, East Granby, Madison and Pawcatuck.
