Chris Cote’s Golf Shop Expands One Day Sponsorship T he Connecticut State Golf Association is pleased to announce an expanded partnership with Chris Cote’s Golf Shop in Portland, Connecticut for the 2014 season. As part of the agreement, Chris Cote’s Golf Shop will become the official sponsor of the CSGA One Day Tournament Series. The “One Day Player of the Year Points Race,” which was introduced in 2013 and sponsored by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop, will also see an increase in the prizes awarded. Additionally, Chris Cote’s Golf Shop will offer a Hole-In-One prize at each event on a designated hole. “We are excited to continue to build on our relationship with Chris Cote’s Golf Shop,” said Mike Moraghan, CSGA Executive Director. “The introduction of the Points Race in 2013 was a big success and added a new level of excitement to the series. We’re happy to be conducting our One Day tournaments at so many outstanding golf courses, and to be partnering with Chris Cote’s Golf Shop again for the 2014 season.” As part of the revised CSGA Player of the Year points system that was announced last week, the One Day Player of the Year system will also be modified to award points to the Top 15 finishers at each event. For 2014, a total of $4,000 in merchandise certificates to Chris Cote’s Golf Shop will be awarded to the top three points leaders in each division at the end of the tournament season. “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with the CSGA by sponsoring the One Day Tournament Series,” said Chris Cote, owner of Chris Cote’s Golf Shop. “We are committed to helping golfers of all levels and abilities improve their game, and we feel like the One Day Tournament Series is a perfect fit for us. With the expanded partnership, we hope to reach more golfers throughout the state than ever before.” The 2014 One Day Tournament schedule will feature a total of thirteen events, the most in the history of the Series, and concludes with the season-ending One Day Championship at Shennecossett Golf Course. The season kicks off on Monday, April 14th at Wethersfield Country Club in Wethersfield, Connecticut, host of the Connecticut Senior Amateur Championship later this year. Wethersfield CC boasts an unparalleled history in Connecticut golf, having hosted the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship (then named the “Insurance City Open”) for 32 years from 1952 until 1983. The present layout was designed by Robert D. Pryde, the first Executive Director of the Connecticut State Golf Association and member of the Connecticut Golf Hall of Fame.
