Wintonbury Hills Golf Course

ocated just fifteen minutes from
Hartford in Bloomfield, Connecticut,
Wintonbury Hills Golf Course is widely
regarded as one of the best public golf
courses in New England. The course was
designed by famed architect Pete Dye in
2005, and marks Dye’s first championship
course in New England.
The course plays to a challenging
par of 70, with the championship tees
tipping out at just over 6,700 yards. The
course features a variety of both linksstyle holes and parkland, tree-lined holes.
While the course features a stout
set of par-4’s, there is no doubt that a
good score at Wintonbury Hills will be
marked by successfully navigating the
par-3’s. The course has five par 3’s in
total, ranging from the 163-yard 3rd hole
to the 255-yard 7th hole, which requires
the golfer to traverse a hazard to the left
of the green.
Although challenging from the
championship tees, Wintonbury Hills is
a great example of a course that can
be played by golfers of all abilities.
Wintonbury Hills offers four different sets
of tees (5,005, 5,678, 6,283 and 6,711
yards) that allow even the most modest
of golfers to enjoy their round. All of the
long carries that the golfer faces from
the Championship tees are avoided when
playing one of the forward sets of tees.
Wintonbury Hills has already played
host to many of the top junior, amateur
and professional events in the Northeast,
including the LPGA Future’s Tour and the
CCSU Fall Invitational.
