What’s Next on the CSGA Calendar? 8th Tournament of Champions On Wednesday, September 4th, Bull’s Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Connecticut will host the 8th Tournament of Champions. This unique event brings together past CSGA Champions, club champions and senior club champions from CSGA member clubs to compete in an 18-hole shootout at one of the state’s top courses. Players are placed in either the Tettelbach (Open) or Siderowf (Senior) division, and have the opportunity to earn Player of the Year points for the respective races. In 2012, Brent Dietz of Cedar Knob Golf Club ?red a 3-under par 69 at Bull’s Bridge to claim the overall title. In the Siderowf Division, Glastonbury Hill’s Bob Spaniotis ?red a one-under par 71 for a three shot victory over Bill Torza (Timberlin) and David Czaplicki (Hamden Marketing), who each shot 74. 73rd Four-Ball Championship - Course at Yale For the twentieth consecutive year and sixty-seventh time overall, The Course at Yale will host the state’s best amateur teams for the CSGA Four-Ball Championship. Competitors will play 18-holes of Four-Ball stroke play, recording the better ball of partners on each hole for an overall gross score. Last year’s team of Ben Hunter (2013 Connecticut Mid-Amateur Champion) and Kamaiu Johnson birdied the ?rst playoff hole after shooting 65 to capture the title in a four-way playoff. Among the many challenges the teams will face at the famed C.B. McDonald course include the par-3 9th hole. Nicknamed “Biarritz” for a similar hole in France that required a carry over a 50-foot cliff, the 65yard green contains a large swale in the middle. Depending on the hole location, one may be forced to putt from, or through the swale, posing a unique challenge for the players. 30 Connecticut State Golf Association
