113th United States Amateur Blake Morris Falls in Round of 32 Blake Morris of Waterbury, Conn. advanced to the Round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur and was the sole Connecticut resident to qualify for match play. Morris ?red rounds of 73-69 for a two-over par total 142 and claimed the 28th seed. He went on to defeat Cory McElyea of Santa Cruz, California, 4 and 3, before losing to the eventual champion Matt Fitzpatrick of England. Morris is the ?rst Connecticut player since 2009 to advance to the Round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur, a feat last accomplished by Cameron Wilson of Rowayton in 2009.
