FCCLA Holds Open House

By Erika Van Nieuwenhuyse

The Burke FCCLA chapter presented their projects on March 20, one last time before they compete at state on April 1. The open house was held in the Burke High School Gym. Anyone who will be competing at the state meeting presented their project twice at open house. Anyone who wanted to listen to the projects were welcome. FCCLA members also provided snacks from each food group for people to snack on.

"This open house was very helpful, because we all got tips on how to make our speeches/projects better. We are all very excited to compete at state and see how we do. This is my third year competing in the state competition, but my first year doing a STAR event. I am very thankful that our school gets the opportunity to offer FCCLA, because it really does help you for your future career," commented Sophomore, Erika Van Nieuwenhuyse.

Burke Elementary Builds "Cougar Den"

By Erika Van Nieuwenhuyse

The Burke Elementary school just recently built a "Cougar Den." They took an extra room in the Elementary, painted it, and decorated it to show some school spirit. They added bean bags, books, comfy pillows, and chairs. The elementary students will use the room to read books with guest readers, or just with their class.
