The Cork --- An English Cut Publication Zero Issue | Page 6

Welcome to English Cut’s new literary home, beautifully wrapped in our new publication — The Cork. If you’ve been following us for the last decade or so you’ll be more familiar with me putting electronic pen to paper as the first bespoke tailoring blogger all those years ago. Well, I’m delighted we have a first again by offering an oracle you can enjoy with the same credentials we’ve always been trusted for. We want to enlighten, educate and even entertain you with knowledge of fine crafts and artisanal products from around the globe. So, The Cork, what’s that all about then? Remember, at English Cut we always want to tell you how it is — if you know the truth then you can feel confident about the choices you make. And equally important to know: how should you spend your hard-earned cash wisely? Getting insider knowledge has two main benefits, there’s the obvious that we’ve just stated, and the second one relates to how much you can impress your friends socially. So, you might ask, The Cork is a magazine about wine? Don’t be silly, it’s an age-old Savile Row term for the ‘Boss’, the person whose word used to be final in all things sartorial. See, you’re thanking us already. As you may know we don’t make a habit of blowing our own trumpet but, when it comes to bespoke tailoring, we feel that our team and I have a pretty good handle on what’s happening. It’s a beautiful craft, and knowledge of such is not only interesting but also valuable. Of course, there’s more to life than beautiful suits, so you can give a sigh of relief knowing that, when you flick through the pages, you don’t have to just listen to me get all excited about a piece of tweed or the soft roll on a lapel. Thankfully, your artisanal knowledge of all things lovely and tasteful will be expounded. Hopefully you’ll never need to buy another drink again. Enjoy, Tom Mahon 6 THE CORK THE CORK 7
