this weighted globe just off branch
four hands larger than anything
Poppa and I waited through
shortening days to ripen
insurance against puckered mouths
skin bursting open
revealing its ready
its take me
its fruition
measure its weight on my palm
before I open
feel it still warm from the day’s sun
before I put my mouth on it
take in its color shape
my lips mouth tongue
pour into this flesh
suck sweet
slides down back of throat
yes
like the right lover
satisfying effortlessly
on both sides
