“I must say. Gloria. You photograph well… really well.”
“You can keep that and here’s my card. I wish I didn’t have to go. I want to hear more about
this role.”
“We’ll talk tomorrow or you can call me when you’re finished with the shoot.”
“I will. I sure will. John it’s been a real pleasure meeting you.” Gloria holds out her hand
wanting to feel the electricity again rather than being cordial.
John right on cue accepts her hand and with a smile he says, “I like your grip. It’s kinda
warm.”
“I’m a warm hearted person John. Haven’t you figured that out yet?” Gloria is laughing but
she has not let go of John’s hand.
And John is making no attempt to let go either.
“What are you doing right now John other than holding my hand?”
John finally, releases the grip on Gloria’s hand and they get a kick out of each other. They are
really enjoying themselves. John is seeing more in Gloria than just a character, he actually likes this
woman John feels that most women who are this pretty once they open their mouth, something
goes wrong but Gloria doesn’t seem to fit in that mold.
“I’m working. I’m casting. I’m looking at women.” John says as he waves his hand about at
the Venice Beach scene.
“Would you want to come along for the photo shoot? You don’t have to stay for the entire
thing. We can talk some more.”
Now, John knows this is going to be a tough one, keeping this strictly business; “Yeah, I
think I can hang out for a little bit. I was going to hit the boardwalk anyway until you showed up.”
“What do you mean by that?” Gloria says gathering her things from the table.
“I mean, when I saw you, I felt my search was over. Now that I’ve talked to you, I know my
search is over.”
“You’re just fucking with me. Is this some kind of bullshit game, to get in my pants?”
John puts his hands up as if to surrender, “Whoa, wait a minute now?”
“No really John. Don’t fuck with me…I’ve had my share of bullshit artist. Please don’t be
one of them?”
“Trust me. You have nothing to worrying about here. I’m legit. You’ll see.” John can only
smile and Gloria’s moment of tenseness subsides.
“Okay then. Let’s go. I’ve got about 20 minutes. It’s right at the end of Windward. Actually
you can see where we’re going to shoot from here.” Gloria points to the large V made of iron at the
cement boardwalk.
