News from the West Platte Education Foundation
The West Platte Education Foundation recently
received a Founder’s Lead Gift of $5,000 from
J.E. Dunn Construction Company. This generous
contribution will enable the foundation to move
forward with its three main priorities – to offer
college scholarships for deserving West Platte
seniors, to offer financial support to teachers for
particularly innovative educational initiatives,
and to provide assistance with school-related
supplies to students with financial needs. Thanks
in large part to Dunn’s Lead Gift, the Foundation
will offer two $1,000 college scholarships to
West Platte seniors this spring.
This Lead Gift challenges other area businesses
and institutions to make similar commitments to
the West Platte Education Foundation. With your
help the Foundation will develop into a major
force to promote high academic standards and
innovative educational experiences. Support
from the people of Weston and the surrounding
community are critical to the Foundation’s
future success. Gifts to the Foundation are tax
deductible.
Why should I contribute to the Foundation? The
West Platte School District is not in financial
trouble. Yes, the West Platte School District
is very stable financially. But there are some
types of expenses for which district funds
cannot be used, such as college scholarships
for graduating seniors and direct payments to
financially-challenged students needing school
supplies. Here are some ways you can support
the Foundation:
amazon.com. Then type “West Platte Education
Foundation” in the search box. For every
purchase you make 0.5% will be donated to the
Foundation. Doesn’t sound like much, but those
little contributions add up.
Your personal gifts:
Send a check to the West Platte Education
Foundation, P.O. Box 313, Weston, Missouri
64098.
Your friends and associates:
Encourage your friends to contribute. If you are a
member of a club, contribute as a group. Create
a college scholarship challenge by pooling
resources with other alums of your college to
offer a scholarship for a West Platte senior. If you
want to recognize a West Platte teacher who
inspired you, make a contribution in his or her
name and challenge others do likewise.
