A Brand New Sensory Room
We are so excited to have a Sensory Room in the new building ! We have long prayed and planned for a place in our school that would provide our students an opportunity to recharge , decompress , or simply explore their environment using a variety of senses .
We are so grateful to Founders of Doctors ’ Hospital , Inc . for donating the funds to fully equip our Sensory Room with therapeutic items that provide calm and gentle stimulation to our young students . Each item in the room has a specific purpose : from the swing that helps provide vestibular input ; to the bubble tube that provides tactile , auditory and visual feedback and opportunities to explore colors ; to the color ladder that lights up when the children make noises ; and the Somotron pillow that combines a relaxing place to hang out , while also stimulating the body with music and vibrations . We also continue to refine the space for some of our more physically involved students by incorporating switches which will allow the students to turn on and off the equipment in the room .
The Sensory room has quickly become a popular place for teachers and therapists to bring individual students or the whole classroom !
