LRIS DIRECTOR CARLA BROWN ASSUMES NEW POSITION
LRIS DIRECTOR CARLA BROWN ASSUMES NEW POSITION
From Carla Brown , LRIS Director
After fourteen years as Director of the Lawyer Referral and Information Service program , it is with bittersweet emotions that I share that I am leaving the Atlanta Bar Association but not the bar family .
I have accepted the Executive Director position with the Palm Beach County Bar Association in West Palm Beach , Florida . I will be forever indebted to the Atlanta Bar Association for the growth opportunities that this position has afforded me in both my personal and professional life . I am humbled by the congratulatory outpouring from members , co-workers , colleagues , and friends .
I sincerely thank the LRIS Board of Directors for trusting my judgement and having confidence in my ability to lead this very important program . My sincere hope is for the LRIS program to continue to flourish and serve the public for many , many years to come . I will miss so many factors about the Atlanta Bar : the funny calls that the LRIS staff , Lucia , Dora , James , Stefanie and Diamond share with me daily and the one hour lunch dates normally spent eating and watching TMZ with my co-workers , Michele , Denisha and Karen . Good wishes to Terri , our Executive Director , and all of the Atlanta Bar Staff .
STAFF SPOTLIGHT : Membership Coordinator
MARIA PINKELTON
Maria Pinkelton has recently stepped into the role of Membership Coordinator and brings with her 16 years of public relations and communications experience to the Atlanta Bar Association . Maria was previously with Cox Media Group-Technology where she served as their Senior Communications Specialist .
“ It is exciting to have Maria ’ s skillful communication talents as a resource in conveying all that Atlanta Bar membership is and affords to members of the legal community . Her energetic spirit is a great addition to the Atlanta Bar team ”, remarked executive director Terri Bryant .
In her spare time , Maria enjoys trying out new restaurants with her family , serving on the City of Decatur ’ s Lifelong Living Committee , and working with the Georgia Microboards Association .
STAFF SPOTLIGHT : Marketing and Communications
Kristyn Girardeau
When the Marketing and Communications position was left vacated by Brantly Watts , who recently moved forward with her film industry career at Savannah College of Art and Design ( SCAD ), Kristyn Girardeau assumed the position seamlessly . Executive director Terri Bryant commented , “ Kristyn quickly understood the varied and many communication responsibilities of the Association ’ s operations , and has not missed a step in accomplishing all that needs to be done .”
Though Kristyn ’ s career background is in marketing and communications , including her most recent position as the Communications Coordinator for the Dahlonega-Lumpkin Chamber & Visitors Bureau , her career path also included an Americorps position with East Atlanta Kids Club , a local nonprofit . When Kristyn is not at work , she is enjoying the newlywed life with her husband Steven . Her free time is spent volunteering for local nonprofits , reading books under trees , laughing at local comedy shows , and dancing the evening away at live music events .
