We ask that you make a general contribution of any size to the Atlanta Bar Foundation, “Signing these scholarship checks is one of my most meaningful duties as President of the Foundation.” by former Foundation President Wade Malone on page 12 of this issue of the Atlanta Lawyer. Several years ago, the Atlanta Bar Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) and the Foundation combined their resources to create a joint grant program. The joint grant program takes applications and makes grants to programs that advance the charitable purposes of the Atlanta Bar Association, as described above. In addition to the Summer Law Internship Program, Minority and Diversity Clerkship Program, and Police Scholarship Fund discussed above, grant recipients have included the Truancy Intervention Project, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta, Georgia Asylum & Immigration, Georgia Justice Project, Georgia Innocence Project, Georgia Law Center for the Homeless, Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice, Georgia Lawyers for the Arts, and Green- which will go to support the many worthy programs described above. Every Atlanta lawyer is urged to become an Atlanta Bar Foundation Lifetime Fellow. This requires a one-time donation of $1000 or $1200 with an annual contribution of $200 for six years. You can also become a Sustaining Fellow by donating a minimum $150 annually. We also request that you support the Atlanta Santa Program by making a donation of any size to support Santa and his Elves as they spread holiday cheer to underserved children, seniors, and sick children in hospitals.
