The Family Law Section was busy this past fall. Our
monthly breakfast featured speakers ranging from
Cobb County Superior Court Judge Anne Harris to
former family lawyer, now mental health counselor,
Shelly Senterfitt speaking on the (not so) hidden
dangers of vicarious trauma for family lawyers.

5-17. These children are victims of abuse, neglect and/
or abandonment. Members of the section volunteer to
be Santa by fulfilling the wish lists of several children
residing at the village.
Family Law Section Holiday Party
Brews for Tunes Fundraiser
In addition, on October 13, the Section hosted our
annual fundraiser Brews for Tunes at Second Self
Brewery. The event raises funds for the Atlanta Music
Project whose mission is to provide Atlanta’s underserved youth the opportunity to learn and perform
music in orchestras and choirs through their after
school programs and their private lesson program.
The fundraiser was a success raising funds for this
worthy program.
The Children's Village at Christian City
During the holiday season, the Section continues their
annual sponsorship of children living at the Children’s
Village at Christian City. The organization offers life
The section’s annual holiday party was held on December 8th at Fado’s in Buckhead, which was well
attended by members of the section, as well as welcomed guests from other sections.
Upcoming CLE
Next year, on February 14, 2017 the section will present
our annual CLE with our inaugural CLE Trial Skills
for the Family Lawyer. This day long seminar will
include seasoned trial lawyers with practical tips on
the presentation of evidence to judges and juries, jury
selection, direct and cross examination, and opening
and closing arguments. In addition, long time judges
will offer insight into what they view to be the top trial
skill
