Atlanta Bar Association Offers a New Look for Its Sports & Recreation Section The Atlanta Bar Association’s Sports & Recreation Section is once again offering an opportunity for lawyers to “show their stuff” on the basketball court in its 2017 Spring Lawyer’s Basketball League. Since its revival five years ago, the Lawyer’s Basketball League has presented an opportunity for law firms across Atlanta to build comradery within their firm and for new or solo lawyers to meet other lawyers in a collegial and fun atmosphere of competition and cardio. Past champions include Alston & Bird’s sharp-shooting lawyers led by Andrew Sumner as well as Troutman Sander’s out-hustling lawyers led by Nick Phillips. The Lawyer’s Basketball League has availability for approximately 14 teams to play games in the evenings in Buckhead on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The League includes 9 weekly games and a championship tournament. The games include a scorekeepers’ table and up to three official referees. The season runs from February through May with a few “bye weeks” for various spring breaks. Jerseys can be provided upon request and payment. Teams need to have at least 7 players to avoid forfeits and the need for make-up games. All players must be lawyers and members of the Atlanta Bar Association. If you or your firm are interested in additional information, please feel free to reach out at [email protected] or ask any of our great administrative staff at the Atlanta Bar for more information. In addition to the Lawyer’s Basketball League, the Atlanta Bar Association’s Sports & Recreational Section is taking on something more…recreational. Developments are currently underway to host the Atlanta Bar Association’s first inaugural Lawyer’s Bocce League. We are looking to join forces with the very successful leagues presented by Atlanta Bocce League throughout Atlanta. Look for more details to come in early January 2017!
