I transfer across the lake from Mozambique, in a 2-hour boat journey via stops at immigrations out of Mozambique and into Malawi. Passing rural fishing villages en route, we speed towards a long golden sandy cove. Kaya Mawa is a real highlight of Malawi. I can instantly see why it’s a honeymoon hotspot. A taste of authentic Malawi, with culture and rural villages, this is far removed from the tourists and trappings of any beach resort of today. 11 villas are hidden within lush vegetation lining the beach.
