Novel Approaches to Oral Care of  Dependent Adults Course Description Oral care for dependent adults has scared the bejezzes out of most nursing assistants and even some nurses. While dentistry has strived to keep people in teeth, we’ve missed the boat in teaching care givers about the advances in oral care and not shared ways of decreasing oral biofilm without the emphasis on brushing and flossing. This course is for people who want to do better with oral care but can’t sit through another guilt trip about brushing and flossing. It’s more fun, and easier than ever before, spoken like a true squelcher of the Floss Nazi mentality. Learning outcomes • • • • • Bridging the gap between oral health care providers and LTC providers The nature of a biofilm How good oral health of the residents can make nursing easier How confections are the savior How to apply xylitol in the care plan • Course Length: 2 to 3 hours
